History of Kingscliff Beach
Kingscliff developed as a seaside holiday town in the early 20th century, with the Kingscliff Surf Life Saving Club established in 1938 to patrol the beach. The town and beach grew as a coastal resort for the Tweed Valley and southern Gold Coast region, with the foreshore reserve and creek entrance forming long-standing recreational focal points.
Culture & Context
The Kingscliff area lies within Bundjalung Country, traditionally associated with the Minjungbal people. The beach and Cudgen Creek area remain culturally significant to local Aboriginal communities and are part of the broader Tweed coastal cultural landscape valued for recreation and community gatherings.
