History of Khe Ro Primitive Forest
Khe Ro was designated as a Nature Reserve in 1994 to protect a representative area of lowland evergreen primeval forest in northeastern Vietnam. The forest has been preserved due to its remote location and has long been inhabited and protected by local Tay communities.
Culture & Context
The forest area is closely associated with the Tay ethnic community in An Lac Commune, who maintain traditional stilt houses, farming practices and homestay culture. The reserve is valued locally for watershed protection and community-based ecotourism.
