About Khao Lom Muak
Khao Lom Muak is a 278-metre limestone hill located inside Wing 5 Royal Thai Air Force Base in Ko Lak Subdistrict, Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The hill is notable for its steep hiking trail to a summit shrine and panoramic viewpoint overlooking Prachuap Bay, Ao Manao and Ao Noi. Managed by the Air Force, access is restricted to weekends and public holidays with registration, making it a distinctive controlled-access natural viewpoint in central coastal Thailand.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a short but steep and strenuous climb of about 496 metres distance to the summit, with sections of concrete steps, rocky path and rope-assisted scrambling. The trail is inside an active Air Force base and starts at a registration point. At the top, a small shrine dedicated to Chao Por Khao Lom Muak and a 360-degree viewpoint offer views of Prachuap town, three bays (Ao Prachuap, Ao Manao, Ao Noi), surrounding limestone hills and the Gulf of Thailand. The surrounding base area is forested and home to dusky langurs.
