About Khao Khitchakut National Park
Khao Khitchakut National Park is a 59 sq km protected area in Khao Khitchakut District, Chanthaburi Province, eastern Thailand, part of the Cardamom Mountains. Established on 4 May 1977 as Thailand's 14th national park, it is notable for its evergreen forest, 13-tier Krathing Waterfall, and the sacred Khao Phra Bat peak (1,085 m) with the revered Phra Bat Phluang Buddha footprint, a major annual pilgrimage site.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect dense evergreen and deciduous forest on mountainous terrain, waterfalls and streams, and viewpoints over Chanthaburi. The main visitor areas are the park headquarters, Krathing Waterfall trail, and the steep trail to Khao Phra Bat summit. During the annual pilgrimage season (January-March) the summit area is busy with pilgrims, food stalls and 4WD pickup services; outside this season the park is quieter and focused on nature walks and waterfall visits.
