About Kamala Beach
Kamala Beach is a 2-kilometre sandy beach on Phuket's west coast in Kamala Subdistrict, Kathu District, north of Patong. Fringed by palm trees and hills, it is known as a quieter, family-friendly alternative to busier Phuket beaches. The beach offers calm swimming in dry season, local seafood restaurants, and proximity to cultural attractions like Phuket FantaSea, retaining a traditional Muslim fishing village atmosphere.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a wide, curved sandy bay about 2 km long backed by palm trees, hills and a small fishing village. The beach has soft sand, clear water that is generally calm from November to April and wavier from May to October, with areas for swimming, sunbathing and beach walks. The northern end is quieter near the river mouth, the central and southern areas have restaurants, cafes, shops, sun loungers and umbrellas, and views of offshore islands.
