History of Jembatan Gentala Arasy
Constructed between 2012-2014 and inaugurated in 2015 as part of Jambi waterfront revitalization, the bridge was built to reconnect Jambi City with Jambi Seberang across the Batanghari River and to create a new tourism landmark. The name Gentala means echo/sound and Arasy refers to an elevated place, reflecting its tower and bridge concept.
Culture & Context
The bridge is an iconic symbol of Jambi City and a gathering place for residents and visitors. It links the modern city centre with the traditional Jambi Seberang area, including the Arab Melayu heritage settlement, and is integrated with the Gentala Arasy tower and museum complex that showcases Jambi Malay culture and Islamic heritage.
