History of Hiranyakeshi River Origin
The temple marks the sacred origin of the Hiranyakeshi River, believed to be created by Lord Shiva for Goddess Parvati according to mythology. Cave exploration on January 26, 1981, revealed ancient carvings and a man-made tank (Kunda) deep within the mountain, confirming the river’s subterranean source. The site has been a tirtha for centuries, with rituals like Tripindi Shraddh and Narayan Nagbali conducted traditionally.
