History of Heritage Transport Museum
Conceived and founded by collector Tarun Thakral, the museum was inaugurated on 7 December 2013. It was developed as a not-for-profit initiative to document and preserve the history of transportation in India, bringing together decades of collected automobiles, railway memorabilia, aviation artefacts and archival material in a purpose-built facility.
Culture & Context
The museum documents the cultural and social evolution of mobility in India, showcasing how transport has shaped trade, migration and everyday life. Its galleries illustrate indigenous transport systems, colonial-era vehicles and post-independence automotive development, serving as an educational resource on India's industrial and design heritage.
