History of Hanuman Garhi
Hanuman Garhi is believed to have origins in the 10th century and is built as a four-sided fort with circular bastions on a high mound in Ayodhya. Tradition holds that Lord Hanuman resided here guarding Ayodhya and the birthplace of Lord Ram. The present structure reflects later renovations and has long been an important centre of Hanuman worship in the city.

The temple is revered as the guardian shrine of Ayodhya and holds deep religious significance for devotees of Lord Hanuman and Lord Ram. It is customary for pilgrims to seek blessings at Hanuman Garhi before proceeding to Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The site is especially crowded during Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navami and Diwali, with daily aarti and devotional gatherings.
