History of Haji Ali Dargah
Constructed in 1431, the dargah commemorates Sayyed Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, a wealthy merchant from Uzbekistan who renounced worldly possessions to spread Islam. According to tradition, his shroud was placed in the sea and the shrine was built where it came to rest on a rocky mound. The current structure received its present form in the early 19th century after the Trust was formed in 1916.
