History of Hadsar Base Camp
Hadsar has long served as the traditional road-head and base camp for the ancient Manimahesh Kailash pilgrimage to Manimahesh Lake, a sacred high-altitude lake associated with Lord Shiva. The trekking route via Hadsar and Dhancho has been used for centuries by pilgrims during the annual Manimahesh Yatra.
Culture & Context
The base camp is culturally significant as the gateway to Manimahesh Lake, revered as an abode of Lord Shiva in the Chamba-Bharmour region. During the annual Manimahesh Yatra in August-September, thousands of pilgrims gather at Hadsar before trekking to the lake for a holy dip, reflecting deep Shaivite traditions.
