History of Gurdwara Damdama Sahib
Sri Hargobindpur was founded by Guru Arjan Dev in the late 16th century and named after his son Guru Hargobind Sahib. Gurdwara Damdama Sahib marks the site where Guru Hargobind Sahib stayed (damdama meaning resting place) during his travels and where Guru Arjan Dev and later Guru Hargobind are traditionally associated. The town and gurdwara reflect early Sikh settlement history along the Beas River.
