According to tradition, the Guru stayed at this site in 1670-71 while travelling from Lakhnaur to Anandpur Sahib. The place was then a garden (bagh) associated with a royal establishment, hence the name Badshahi Bagh. A shrine was later established to mark the visit and is now maintained as a historic gurdwara.
