History of Gufa Mandir Kaila Devi
The cave is believed to be the original location where Goddess Kaila Devi appeared to Sage Kedargiri. According to legend, when a Yogi was transporting the goddess's idol on a bullock cart from Nagarkot, the bullock stopped at this forest location and refused to move further, indicating the divine will for the deity to be established there. This predates the construction of the main temple by Maharaja Gopal Singh in 1723-1730.
