About Greenough Leaning Trees
The Greenough Leaning Trees are a group of wind-shaped eucalyptus trees located on the coastal plain at Greenough, about 20 kilometres south of Geraldton in Western Australia. Bent sharply to the north by persistent strong southerly winds, the trees grow almost horizontally close to the ground. The site is a well-known roadside photo stop on Brand Highway illustrating the force of the coastal winds and is viewed from a designated pull-over area.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a short roadside stop on the flat coastal plain where a cluster of eucalyptus trees lean dramatically to the north, almost parallel to the ground, due to prevailing southerly winds. The trees are viewed from a sealed pull-over bay beside Brand Highway. There are no buildings or trails; the setting is open farmland with strong winds. Visitors typically stop to view and photograph the trees from the roadside without entering the surrounding private property.
