About Fort Bourke Hill Lookout
Fort Bourke Hill Lookout is a hilltop viewpoint on Fort Bourke Hill immediately south of Cobar in western New South Wales. It overlooks the town and the large open-cut void of the historic Great Cobar Copper Mine. Notable for its panoramic 360-degree views, interpretive signage and preserved mining relics, the lookout marks the site of the 1870 copper discovery that established Cobar as a major mining centre and remains a key heritage and sightseeing stop.
