About Devils Gullet
Devils Gullet is a dramatic cliff-top lookout in Mersey Forest within the Meander Valley municipality of northern Tasmania, on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Perched above a sheer 300-metre dolerite cliff, it offers expansive views over the Fisher River valley and surrounding Central Highlands. Accessed via a short boardwalk from a remote gravel road, it is notable for its wilderness setting and panoramic alpine scenery.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a remote alpine lookout reached by a short elevated boardwalk and stairs from a gravel car park to a fenced viewing platform on the cliff edge. The platform provides uninterrupted panoramic views over the Fisher River gorge, forested valley floor, and distant peaks of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair and Walls of Jerusalem National Parks. The setting is exposed, windswept and largely natural with interpretive signage, with no shops or built visitor centre at the site itself.
