About Darling Harbour
Darling Harbour is a large waterfront recreational and entertainment precinct adjacent to the Sydney central business district in New South Wales. Built around a natural harbour inlet of Port Jackson, it was redeveloped in the 1980s for Australia's Bicentenary. It is notable for its pedestrian promenades, museums, aquariums, theatres, parks, restaurants and event spaces, and is one of Sydney's most visited tourist destinations.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a pedestrianised harbour-side precinct with wide promenades, parklands and a working harbour. The area contains major paid attractions including SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo and the Australian National Maritime Museum, alongside the International Convention Centre Sydney, Harbourside shopping and dining, the Chinese Garden of Friendship, playgrounds and open event spaces. Ferries, water taxis and harbour cruises operate from the wharves, with views across Cockle Bay to the city skyline.
