About Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm
Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm is Australia's oldest operating pearl farm, located at Cygnet Bay on the Dampier Peninsula about 200 kilometres north of Broome in Western Australia. Established in 1946 by Dean Brown and still family-owned, it pioneered Australian cultured pearling. The remote coastal site on the Buccaneer Archipelago offers working pearl farm tours, cultural experiences with Bardi Jawi traditional owners, and waterfront accommodation overlooking turquoise waters and tidal flats.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a working pearl farm on a remote Kimberley coastline with turquoise water, red cliffs and large tidal movements. Experiences centre on guided land and boat tours showing live pearl oysters, seeding and harvesting demonstrations, pearl grading and history displays. The site includes waterfront safari tents and cabins, a licensed restaurant and bar, pool, pearl showroom and gallery. Bardi Jawi cultural tours, boat cruises through the Buccaneer Archipelago and swimming in the pool area are available in a remote, off-grid setting.
