About Coffin Bay Oyster Farm Tour
The Coffin Bay Oyster Farm Tour is an aquaculture experience based in Coffin Bay on the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, about 45 kilometres west of Port Lincoln. Operated in the sheltered waters of Coffin Bay, the tour takes visitors wading to working oyster leases to learn about Pacific oyster farming. Notable for its hands-on shucking and tasting of oysters straight from the sea, it showcases the region's renowned seafood industry within a pristine coastal environment.
Visitors guide
Visitors meet at the Coffin Bay foreshore and are fitted with chest waders before wading into the shallow, sheltered waters of Coffin Bay to a working oyster lease. Guides explain oyster cultivation, grading and harvesting while visitors stand at semi-submerged tables. Participants learn to shuck Pacific oysters and taste them freshly harvested with condiments, surrounded by calm bay waters, sand flats and views of Coffin Bay National Park.
