About Cockington Green Gardens
Cockington Green Gardens is a miniature village and landscaped garden attraction in Nicholls, northern Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, within the Gold Creek Village precinct. Established in 1979 by Doug and Brenda Sarah, it displays meticulously handcrafted miniature buildings modelled on villages from the United Kingdom and other countries, set within extensive gardens. Notable for its Waverley miniature steam railway, international display and family-oriented setting, it is a long-standing Canberra visitor attraction.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an outdoor landscaped garden containing dozens of hand-built miniature buildings at 1:12 scale, including thatched cottages, castles, churches and international landmarks, set among manicured lawns, hedges and flower beds. A miniature steam train (Waverley Station) circuits the grounds, with stations and ride-on carriages. Paths wind through themed sections including an English village and International Display. The site includes a cafe, gift shop, picnic areas and viewing points for photography and close inspection of miniatures.
