History of Cloudehill Gardens
The property is located on a historic Dandenong Ranges hillside allotment dating to the early 20th century. The present garden was largely created from 1992 onwards by Jeremy Francis and Valerie Francis, transforming a former nursery and sloping site into a cool-climate garden with European influences, now recognised as one of Victoria's significant private heritage-style gardens.
Culture & Context
Represents the Dandenong Ranges tradition of cool-climate ornamental gardening and is noted as an example of contemporary Australian garden design inspired by European formal gardens, contributing to the region's cultural landscape and garden tourism.
