About Chatham Saw Mill
Chatham Saw Mill is a historic industrial complex on Chatham Island in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Established in 1883 during British colonial rule, it is regarded as one of the oldest and largest saw mills in Asia. Still operational under government management, the mill processes timber from the islands' forests. It houses a museum displaying wood varieties, historical exhibits and a World War II bomb crater, making it a notable heritage and educational attraction.
