About Chantaboon Waterfront Community
Chantaboon Waterfront Community is a historic riverside neighbourhood along the Chanthaburi River in Wat Mai Subdistrict, Mueang Chanthaburi District, Chanthaburi City. Established over 300 years ago as a trading settlement, it is notable for its well-preserved row of old shophouses blending Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese and French colonial architecture, its continuous riverside street, and its role as the cultural heart of Chanthaburi's old town near the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a narrow, walkable street running parallel to the Chanthaburi River lined with two to three-storey historic shophouses, wooden houses, cafes, boutique shops, galleries and local food stalls. The area is compact and best explored on foot, with river views, small shrines, street art, and preserved facades. Many buildings house museums, coffee shops and guesthouses, while the waterfront offers photo spots and access to the nearby Cathedral and bridges.
