About Chandipur Beach
Chandipur Beach is a coastal attraction at Chandipur in Balasore District, Odisha, on the Bay of Bengal, about 16 km from Balasore town. It is notable for its vanishing sea phenomenon where the sea recedes up to 5 km during low tide and returns at high tide, exposing vast tidal flats. The beach has sandy shores, casuarina groves and views of the Buribalam River estuary and is situated near the Integrated Test Range.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a wide, flat sandy beach with shallow waters and extensive tidal flats that become exposed during low tide, allowing long walks toward the sea. The setting includes casuarina plantations, dunes, fishing boats and views of the Buribalam River meeting the Bay of Bengal. There are no major built structures on the beach itself; the experience is centered on observing the tidal phenomenon, sunrise and sunset views, photography and leisurely beach walks.
