About Champagne Pools
The Champagne Pools are natural shallow seawater pools on the northern ocean side of K'gari (Fraser Island) in Great Sandy National Park, Queensland. Formed by volcanic rock formations along the coastline near Waddy Point, waves crash over the rocks creating bubbly, champagne-like foam. The pools offer a protected swimming spot at low tide and are notable for their scenic coastal setting, clear water, and accessibility via a short boardwalk from the car park.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect shallow, clear natural rock pools formed by volcanic rocks along the exposed ocean beach on northern K'gari. At low tide, waves spill over the rock edge creating effervescent bubbles, leaving calm pools suitable for wading and swimming. The site is accessed via a short boardwalk and steps from the car park with a viewing platform overlooking the ocean. Surroundings are rugged coastline, sandy beach and open ocean with no shops or lifeguard services.
