About Central Tilba
Central Tilba is a heritage-listed village in Eurobodalla Shire on the New South Wales South Coast, inland from Narooma and beneath Gulaga (Mount Dromedary). Established in the 1890s as a dairy settlement centred on the ABC Cheese Factory, it retains original timber buildings along Bate Street. Classified by the National Trust in 1974, it is notable for its intact streetscape, artisan shops, cheese production and views over Tilba Valley to Gulaga National Park.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small, intact historic village streetscape along Bate Street with restored timber shopfronts, weatherboard buildings and heritage signage. The village contains artisan shops, cafes, a cheese factory and tasting room, galleries and craft stores set against a rural valley landscape with views to Gulaga. Visitors can walk the main street, browse shops, sample local produce, view historic architecture and explore surrounding farmland and lookouts. The setting is quiet and village-scale, not a large town centre.
