History of Carambolim Lake
Originally constructed as a minor irrigation tank by impounding monsoon runoff to support surrounding paddy cultivation. It was later declared a bird sanctuary after conservationists identified that invasive Salvinia weed growth was degrading the habitat for migratory birds, prompting Forest Department intervention to clear weeds and enhance the site as a protected avian habitat.
