History of Cam Son Lake
Constructed between 1960 and 1965 by damming the Thuong River, Cam Son Lake was built as a major irrigation and flood-control reservoir for Luc Ngan and surrounding districts. It is one of the largest irrigation reservoirs in northern Vietnam and has supported agricultural development in the region for decades.
Culture & Context
The lake is closely linked to Luc Ngan's renowned lychee cultivation and the rural life of Kinh, Tay and Nung communities living around its shores. Seasonal lychee harvests, orchard landscapes and fishing villages around the reservoir reflect local agricultural traditions and midland culture of Bac Ninh Province.
