About Broad Arrow Ghost Town
Broad Arrow Ghost Town is a former gold rush settlement located about 38 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. Established after gold was discovered in 1893 and gazetted in 1896, it once supported eight hotels and over 2,400 residents. Today only the heritage-listed Broad Arrow Tavern remains operating among scattered ruins, mine remnants and open bushland, illustrating the boom-and-bust cycle of Western Australian goldfields towns.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an open, semi-arid goldfields landscape with scattered ruins, former mine workings, and remnants of stone and brick buildings spread around the still-operating Broad Arrow Tavern. The tavern, built in 1896, functions as a pub and informal museum with historic memorabilia on its walls. There are no formal streets or fenced precincts; exploration is self-guided on foot around the townsite, with interpretive signs, open bushland and unsealed tracks.
