Part of the Bool and Hacks Lagoons system, it is a Ramsar-listed wetland of international importance. The reserve is renowned for its seasonal waterbird habitat, supporting up to 150 bird species, and features boardwalks, bird hides and walking trails that allow visitors to observe the wetland environment.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a seasonal freshwater wetland with open water, reed beds and tea-tree fringed lagoons. The reserve offers a network of walking trails, a boardwalk and elevated bird hides overlooking the water for birdwatching and photography. Facilities are basic and natural, with interpretive signs, picnic areas and car parking. Water levels vary seasonally, so the landscape changes from full lagoons in winter and spring to drier flats in summer.
