History of Bintan Sand Dunes
The site is a former bauxite mining area in Busung that was abandoned after mining operations ceased. Subsequent erosion and excavation left behind large sand deposits and a water-filled pit that formed the turquoise Telaga Biru lake, creating the present dune landscape.
