About Bhrigu Lake
Bhrigu Lake is a high-altitude glacial lake situated at approximately 4,300 meters in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Located east of Rohtang Pass and about 6 kilometers from Gulaba village, it is accessible only by trekking. The lake is considered sacred in Hindu mythology as the meditation site of Maharishi Bhrigu. Surrounded by alpine meadows and snow-capped peaks of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges, it is a prominent destination for trekkers and pilgrims.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a strenuous trek through dense oak forests leading to vast rolling alpine meadows. The lake itself is an oval-shaped glacial body that may be partially frozen depending on the season, nestled quietly between high ridges. Trekkers encounter diverse wildflowers during monsoon months and panoramic views of peaks like Hanuman Tibba and Deo Tibba. As a sacred site, camping directly beside the lake is prohibited, and visitors often find a small temple structure nearby requiring footwear removal.
