History of Beacon Hill Lookout
Beacon Hill served as a survey and navigation beacon for early prospectors and travellers in the Goldfields region. Norseman was established after gold was discovered in 1894 by Laurie Sinclair, and the hill has long been used as a vantage point over the town and surrounding goldfields.
Culture & Context
The lookout is located within the traditional lands of the Ngadju people and on the edge of the Great Western Woodlands, recognised for its natural and cultural values. It provides visitors with an appreciation of the woodlands landscape and Norseman's role as a gateway between the Goldfields and the Nullarbor.
