About Bavikonda Buddhist Complex
Bavikonda Buddhist Complex is an ancient Buddhist monastic site located on a hill about 16 km northeast of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Dating from the 3rd century BCE to 3rd century CE, it comprises remains of a Mahastupa, votive stupas, chaitya halls, viharas, and relic caskets. Excavated between 1982 and 1987, the hilltop complex overlooks the Bay of Bengal and forms part of the region's Buddhist heritage circuit with Thotlakonda and Pavurallakonda.

Visitors can expect a hilltop archaeological park with exposed ruins of a Buddhist monastery. The site includes a central Mahastupa, numerous votive stupas, pillared congregation halls, vihara cells, storage areas and stone pathways spread across terraced levels. Information boards explain the layout. The elevated location offers views of the surrounding countryside and Bay of Bengal.
