About Balasinor Dinosaur Museum
The Balasinor Dinosaur Museum, also known as the Dinosaur Fossil Park and Museum at Raiyoli in Mahisagar district, Gujarat, is India's first dedicated dinosaur museum and fossil park. Located about 11 km from Balasinor town, it preserves one of the world's largest Late Cretaceous dinosaur hatcheries with fossilized eggs, bones and skeletal remains dating back about 65 million years. The modern museum displays fossils, life-size models and interactive exhibits explaining the Narmada Valley's prehistoric significance.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a modern circular museum building with air-conditioned galleries displaying fossilized dinosaur eggs, bones, and skeletal replicas, along with life-size dinosaur sculptures, 3D projections and interactive interpretive panels. Outside, a protected fossil park spread over open rocky terrain preserves in-situ fossilized eggs and bone fragments. The site includes walking trails, viewing points, a souvenir shop and landscaped grounds surrounded by the rural Narmada Valley landscape.

History of Balasinor Dinosaur Museum
Raiyoli was discovered in 1981-82 by geologists of the Geological Survey of India and is recognized as one of the world's largest dinosaur hatcheries. Excavations have yielded fossilized eggs, bones and coprolites from the Late Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago, including remains attributed to Rajasaurus narmadensis and Titanosaurus. The site established the Narmada Valley as a globally important paleontological region and led to the development of India's first dinosaur museum inaugurated in 2019 by the Government of Gujarat.
Culture & Context
The museum serves as a major educational and scientific centre highlighting Gujarat's prehistoric natural heritage and promotes awareness of paleontology and geology among visitors and students
