History of Ayala Museum
Conceived as a museum of Philippine history and iconography by the Ayala Foundation, the museum was established in 1967 as the Ayala Museum and Filipinas Heritage Library. It originally occupied the old Makati Stock Exchange building and moved to its current purpose-built granite, steel and glass building in Ayala Center in 2004, designed by Leandro V. Locsin Partners.
Culture & Context
The museum preserves and presents Philippine cultural heritage through its collections of pre-colonial gold, ceramics, textiles and historical dioramas, and promotes contemporary Philippine art through exhibitions and education programs. The Filipinas Heritage Library supports research on Philippine history and culture.
