About Australiana Pioneer Village
Australiana Pioneer Village is an open-air heritage museum at Wilberforce in the Hawkesbury region of New South Wales, about 65 km northwest of Sydney. Established in the late 1960s, it preserves and displays a collection of 19th-century buildings relocated to the site, including Rose Cottage (c.1810). The village recreates colonial and pioneer life with historic cottages, a school, church, and farm machinery displays.
Visitors guide
Visitors can explore a village setting of relocated historic timber and slab buildings set around grassed grounds and lagoons. Expect to walk between restored cottages, a former church, schoolhouse, general store, and farm buildings furnished to reflect 19th-century colonial life. Displays include period furniture, tools, horse-drawn vehicles and agricultural machinery. Guided tours are often available on open days, with volunteers demonstrating aspects of pioneer life.
