About Australian Age of Dinosaurs
The Australian Age of Dinosaurs is a natural history museum and research facility located on The Jump-Up, a mesa 24 kilometres southeast of Winton in western Queensland. Established to house and display Australia's largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils, it is notable for its active fossil preparation laboratory, extensive outdoor Dinosaur Canyon exhibits, and discoveries including Australotitan cooperensis, Australia's largest dinosaur. The site combines museum displays, laboratory tours and outdoor exhibits on a remote outback landscape.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a hilltop museum complex on a flat-topped mesa overlooking outback plains, accessed by guided tour only. The experience includes indoor fossil collections and displays, a working fossil preparation laboratory viewed through glass, and outdoor exhibits at Dinosaur Canyon with life-sized bronze dinosaur reconstructions along walking trails. A shuttle bus transports visitors between the Reception Centre, laboratory and canyon areas. The setting is remote, arid and exposed with limited shade.
