History of Anyer Beach
Anyer is historically notable as the western terminus of the Great Post Road (Jalan Raya Pos Anyer-Panarukan) built under Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels in 1808. The current Anyer Lighthouse (Mercusuar Cikoneng) was built in 1885 to replace the earlier lighthouse destroyed by the tsunami following the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa.
