About Angourie Blue and Green Pools
Angourie Blue and Green Pools are two flooded former quarries located within Yuraygir National Park near the village of Angourie in the Clarence Valley, New South Wales. Created by quarrying for breakwater stone in the early to mid-20th century, the pits filled with groundwater to form vivid blue and green freshwater lakes. Surrounded by rock walls and coastal heath, they are notable for their striking colours, clear water and popularity as natural swimming holes.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect two adjacent former quarry pits filled with clear freshwater, known for their distinct blue and green hues caused by depth and mineral content. The pools are set within coastal heath and bushland of Yuraygir National Park, enclosed by steep rock walls and natural vegetation. Areas for swimming, wading and relaxing on rock platforms are accessible via short walking tracks from the car park. There are no lifeguards or built swimming facilities; the setting is natural and undeveloped with picnic areas and lookouts nearby.
