History of Allan's Water
Allan's Water originated as a mining pool related to the Raub Australian Gold Mine, which operated from the late 19th century and was one of Malaysia's longest-running gold mines. The lake is named after J. Allan, an early manager associated with the mine. The flooded former mining excavation was later retained and landscaped as a town lake, preserving a visible remnant of Raub's gold mining history.
Culture & Context
The lake serves as the principal urban recreational park for Raub residents and a community gathering place for leisure, exercise and family outings, reflecting the town's transition from a mining centre to a modern district capital.
