About Adyar Falls
Adyar Falls is a seasonal waterfall located in Adyar on the outskirts of Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. Situated about 10-12 km from Mangaluru city centre near the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway, it is formed by monsoon runoff and flows best during and after the rainy season. Surrounded by greenery and laterite terrain, it is a popular local picnic and photography spot during the monsoon months.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect a small seasonal cascade flowing over stepped laterite rocks surrounded by green vegetation and scrub. The falls are accessed by a short walk from the main road and form shallow pools at the base during peak monsoon. The site is open and natural with no major built structures. Water flow is strong during monsoon and post-monsoon and reduces to a trickle or dries up in summer. It is mainly a sightseeing and photography spot for short visits.
