About Adirampattinam Coastal Wetlands
Adirampattinam Coastal Wetlands are a stretch of intertidal mudflats, shallow lagoons, mangrove patches and estuarine channels along the Palk Strait coast at Adirampattinam in Thanjavur District, Tamil Nadu. The wetlands form part of the larger Palk Bay coastal ecosystem near Muthupet. Notable for seasonal migratory birds, brackish-water biodiversity and traditional fishing activity, the area offers a natural coastal landscape rather than a developed tourist complex.
Visitors guide
Visitors can expect an open natural coastal landscape of tidal mudflats, shallow brackish lagoons, narrow creeks and scattered mangrove vegetation along the Palk Strait. The area is largely undeveloped with fishing hamlets, country boats and birdlife visible at low tide. There are no formal visitor structures or promenades; exploration is along the shoreline, bunds and village tracks, primarily for birdwatching, photography and observing coastal ecology.
